Who Am I…

My name is Sean. I am graduating senior at Colorado State University. This will be my final semester at CSU at which point I will graduate with a BA in English education with an emphasis in creative writing, and a BS in Fire Emergency Service Administration. Because I have been actively involved in an English based major for several years I have had a great deal of experience with both formal, and creative writing, and have dedicated a great deal of my studies in literature to rhetoric.

I have spent a great deal of time in my life panning over who I am and what I want to become. In fact the only consistency within this process was the idea that I am certain I want nothing more from this life than to leave it knowing that I have made a difference in just one person’s life. However it is clear to me now that the answer to this question is inevitable, and has been I was born.

As I have grown older and been able to gain a stronger perspective of the fire services and consequently have been able to recognize the advancement and drastic change that has engrossed the fire services. It is my goal to use this blog to voice my opinions regarding the department and work towards my ultimate goal of becoming an advocate for the advancement of the fire services while concurrently working to preserve the traditionalism and ideology of the fire department that I grew up in.

As for my current position in FES, I just recently achieved my EMT-B certification from Front Range Community College and have begun testing as of the new-year for a paid position in the fire department.  I hope to have a paid position within the year. I would like to operate as a Firefighter Paramedic in an ALS fire department within 3-4 years in the state of Colorado.
